The bicycle was created to fill a gap in the market for children who started on a balance bike but find it difficult to ride bicycles with coaster brakes, since their instinct is to move their legs both forward and backward while riding. You can have confidence in the Start 16 being a bicycle that can last, be comfortable for your child, and keep their hands free of chain grease and grime. A composite belt guard and full reflector kit is installed on every bicycle.

Now available with training wheels! Not quite ready to go it alone? Choose “With training wheels” in the option selector and your Start 16 comes with a set, a great fit for kids who skipped the balance bike or want a little extra stability while they learn to pedal and brake. When your little one is ready to ride solo, the training wheels come off and it’s the same lightweight, belt-drive bike they’ll keep growing into. With training wheels is available in Red and Blue now. Turquoise, Charcoal and White arrive around the end of March 2027.

The Start 16 has a seat height of 21" - 25.1".
